Difference between Freeware, Shareware, and Registered versions
Guardian can be run in one of three modes: Freeware, Trial Shareware, and Registered Shareware.
The Freeware version has these limitations:
- Allows for basic error handling (display of a custom message)
- Errors are logged to a file, but there is no email notification for each error
- The publicly-viewable copyright notice must be displayed
The Trial Shareware version has these limitations:
- advanced error handling using the "replace", "dos", "blacklist", "http-redirect", and "redirect" filter rules
- Errors are logged to a file. At the admin's option, an email is sent for each error
- It can only be used for a reasonable period of time while evaluating the product. After that, you are expected to choose either the Freeware or Registered Shareware versions
- The publicly-viewable copyright notice must be displayed
The Registered version allows for:
- advanced error handling using the "replace", "dos", "blacklist", "http-redirect", and "redirect" filter rules
- Errors are logged to a file. At the admin's option, an email is sent for each error
- the publicly-viewable copyright notice may be removed
To select the license mode you would like to use, go to "Admin Page" => "Manage System Settings" => "Update License". You can change your license mode at any time.
Visit the purchase page to buy a license for the registered version.
See Overview of Guardian Filter Rules for more information on the advanced error handling.
