Dealing with time-outs during the auto-install
The auto-installer needs to transfer many files from our server over to your server. In some cases, the transfer will time out. When time-outs happen, they almost always happen on Step 5 of 6 of the installer. You will know that your install has timed out if:
-
The progress indicator shows "050 of 167 files" (or some such number) for an abnormally long time, or if your browser stops responding.
-
Or, if the installer returns an error, like "connection to FTP server 'ftp.foo.com' timed out".
If you experience a time-out, try the following:
-
Retry the install process several times. Time-outs can be random, so making several attempts will help. You can usually retry immediately by just hitting your browser's Refresh or Reload button.
Many files are only installed once, so an install that transfers even a few files will make future attempts more likely to succeed.
-
You can always request a custom install by sending us the relevant information.
