Sorting Results: Handling results with equal relevance

Often many web pages will have equal relevance values, like 1, indicating a single search term was found.

When a set of pages has the same relevance, they will always be shown in the same order in the search results, with their order of appearance based on seemingly-random values like the day last indexed, then month last indexed, then year, then file size, etc. These arbitrary sort fields may be "unfair" in that some web page will be always at the top based largely on the day of the month in which it was indexed.

To override this behavior, go to "Admin Page" => "User Interface" => "Sorting: Randomize Equally-Relevant Search Results". Set this value to 1. Now, all web pages with equal relevance will be randomly sorted with each search.

The setting "Sorting: Randomize Equally-Relevant Search Results" will work for any sort method, including relevance, last modified time, and last indexed time.

The setting "Sorting: Randomize Equally-Relevant Search Results" was added in FDSE version 2.0.0.0042.
